Terms of Use

Welcome to MotorInspect These Terms of Use explain the rules and conditions for using our website and engaging our vehicle inspection services. By accessing our website, requesting a booking, or using our services, you agree to these Terms of Use.

1. About Our Services

MotorInspect provides independent pre-purchase vehicle inspection services designed to assist customers in making informed decisions before purchasing a vehicle.

Our inspections may include:

  • Visual inspection of vehicle condition
  • Mechanical checks
  • Safety checks
  • Diagnostic scanning (where applicable)
  • Road testing (where suitable and permitted)
  • Inspection report with findings and recommendations
  • Photographs and supporting information

Our inspections provide an assessment of the vehicle’s condition at the time of inspection. They are not a guarantee that future mechanical issues will not occur.

2. Independent Inspection Service

MotorInspect operates as an independent vehicle inspection provider. We are not associated with vehicle sellers, dealerships, manufacturers, or private owners unless specifically disclosed.

Our purpose is to provide an unbiased assessment to help customers make informed purchasing decisions.

3. Booking and Payment

  • Inspection bookings must be made through our approved booking process.
  • Customers must provide accurate vehicle details, seller contact information, and inspection location details.
  • Payment must be completed before the inspection unless otherwise agreed.
  • Bookings are only confirmed once payment has been received.
  • Prices may change without notice; however, confirmed bookings will be honoured at the agreed price.

4. Inspection Access Requirements

Customers are responsible for ensuring:

  • The vehicle is available at the agreed time and location.
  • The seller or authorised person provides access to the vehicle.
  • Keys and relevant vehicle documents are available where required.

If the vehicle cannot be inspected due to lack of access, unsafe conditions, or incorrect information provided by the customer, additional charges may apply for a return visit.

5. Inspection Limitations

While we aim to provide accurate and detailed reports, customers acknowledge that:

  • An inspection is a visual and practical assessment only.
  • Some faults may not be visible or detectable during an inspection.
  • Hidden defects, intermittent problems, future failures, or internal mechanical issues may not be identified.
  • Weather conditions, vehicle access, cleanliness, modifications, or restricted areas may affect inspection results.
  • We do not dismantle vehicles or remove components during inspections.

  • Inspection Limitations

You acknowledge and agree that a MotorInspect pre-purchase vehicle inspection is a visual, non-invasive inspection only. Unless otherwise stated, the inspection and resulting Inspection Report do not include the inspection, testing, diagnosis, or assessment of the following:

    Engine and Mechanical Components

    a) Fuel or engine oil consumption.

    b) Internal engine components, including but not limited to pistons, bearings, piston rings, fuel injectors, EGR valves, sludge, carbon build-up, or internal engine wear.

    c) Timing belts or timing chains.

    d) Compression testing, leak-down testing, pressure testing of the engine, cooling system, or any other mechanical component.

    e) Internal transmission, differential, transfer case, or drivetrain components that cannot be visually inspected.

    f) The long-term reliability, future performance, or remaining service life of any mechanical, electrical, or electronic component.

    Fluids and Emissions

    g) Confirmation that manufacturer-approved oils, lubricants, fluids, or coolants have been used or are currently fitted.

    h) Filters of any kind, including diesel particulate filters (DPF), catalytic converters, or other emissions control components.

    Tyres

    i) Tyre suitability, age, manufacturer specifications, or load ratings, except for a visual assessment of tread depth and any obvious signs of damage or uneven wear.

    Electrical and Electronic Systems

    j) Vehicle computers, electronic control modules (ECUs), or onboard software.

    k) Infotainment systems, head units, audio systems, satellite navigation (GPS), televisions, DVD/CD/cassette players, or other multimedia equipment.

    l) Alarm systems, security systems, or trip meters.

    m) Automatic windscreen wipers or rain-sensing systems.

    n) Adaptive, automatic, or self-levelling lighting systems.

    Vehicle Condition

    o) Water leaks, moisture ingress, hidden water damage, or any defect that is concealed or not reasonably detectable during a visual inspection.

    p) Outstanding manufacturer recalls, service campaigns, or technical service bulletins.

    q) Any defect that is intermittent, hidden, or cannot be identified without dismantling, removing components, or using specialised diagnostic equipment.

    General Limitation

The inspection is carried out based on the condition of the vehicle at the time of inspection and is limited to components that are reasonably accessible without dismantling, disassembly, or invasive testing unless specifically included in the inspection package.

An inspection report should not be considered a guarantee, warranty, or prediction of future vehicle performance.

6. Inspection Reports

Inspection reports are prepared based on observations made at the time of inspection.

Customers agree that:

  • Reports are provided for the customer’s personal use only.
  • Reports must not be altered, copied, or distributed without permission.
  • Reports should be considered together with other purchasing factors, including vehicle history, ownership records, and professional advice where appropriate.

7. Fees and Cancellations

7.1 Fees
By booking an inspection with MotorInspect, you agree to pay the applicable inspection fee displayed on our website or provided to you at the time of booking. Payment must be made before the inspection is carried out unless otherwise agreed in writing.

7.2 Refunds
Subject to clauses 7.3 and 7.4 below, if an inspection cannot be completed for reasons beyond the control of MotorInspect, we will provide a full refund, less $12.00 payment processing fee charged by the payment provider (where applicable).

7.3 Customer Cancellation
If you cancel your booking after an inspection date and time has been confirmed with the vehicle seller or dealership, MotorInspect reserves the right to retain a $60 administration fee to cover booking, scheduling, and coordination costs. The remaining balance will be refunded to the original payment method.

7.4 Mechanic Attendance
If a MotorInspect inspector attends the inspection location but is unable to complete the inspection due to circumstances outside the control of MotorInspect—including, but not limited to, the vehicle being unavailable, the seller failing to present the vehicle, restricted access, unsafe conditions, or the vehicle being sold prior to inspection—MotorInspect reserves the right to retain a $150 attendance and cancellation fee. Any remaining balance will be refunded to the original payment method.

7.5 Rescheduling
Where possible, MotorInspect will make reasonable efforts to accommodate requests to reschedule an inspection. Rescheduling requests should be made as early as possible. Additional fees may apply where significant scheduling or travel arrangements have already been made.

7.6 Payment Processing Fees
Any payment processing or transaction fees charged by third-party payment providers are non-refundable where permitted by law.

8. Customer Responsibilities

Customers are responsible for:

  • Providing correct booking information.
  • Confirming vehicle details before purchase.
  • Making their own final purchasing decisions.
  • Understanding that an inspection report is professional advice and not a guarantee of vehicle condition.

MotorInspect is not responsible for decisions made by customers after receiving an inspection report.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, MotorInspect is not liable for:

  • Mechanical failures occurring after inspection.
  • Defects that could not reasonably be detected during inspection.
  • Losses arising from a customer’s decision to purchase or not purchase a vehicle.
  • Delays caused by circumstances outside our control.

Our liability is limited to the value of the inspection service paid by the customer, except where Australian Consumer Law provides otherwise.
